hello everyone :3 after a looong time of working on the first page of my digital zine, i finally finished this cover. i really wanted to make it something special, so i spent a lot of time on details, composition, making sure every element was visually appealing. this took a lot of experimentation and troubleshooting. i did the majority of the coloring on paint tool sai, which is something i havent done since i switched to photoshop as my main drawing program. however, the vivid and playful coloring style that i fell in love with just seems to work much better with sai’s brushes. the brushes are seemingly impossible to recreate on photoshop, so i decided to switch back and forth between the two programs during this drawing. now about the actual subject – akane! she is a bassist in the band “the dreamwalkers.” i wanted to draw her in a way that represents her passion for performance and music. her band has a unique style of combining EDM with metal in a futuristic way. i wanted to make the scene look super electrified and of course, cyberpunk! i will now start working on the other pages for my zine, where i’ll delve into akane’s character :3
