Transforming Your Minecraft Ocean: A Guide to Ocean-Themed Mods

Have you ever wished that your Minecraft oceans were more fun to explore? Did you ever want to make an underwater base but felt that the environment was just… lacking? Fear not, because Minecraft mods are here to save the day! Inspired by my 100 Days as a Mermaid series, I’ve curated a list of must-have mods to transform your Minecraft oceans into an enchanting aquatic oasis. 
I’ll be giving you a brief introduction to 9 unique ocean mods. However, you can find out more details about each mod on their official Curseforge pages, which will be linked here.

1. Aquamirae by Obscuria

Aquamirae offers an expansive and mysterious ocean adventure. This mod introduces the Ice Maze biome, a cold and unforgiving place filled with dangerous sea creatures like the Angler Fish, Tortured Soul, and the formidable Mother of the Maze. The most dangerous part of this mod is the new boss: The Ghost of Captain Cornelia. Are you brave enough to face her? For a detailed guide, check out this video by Noxus. 2. Unusual Fish Mod by Coda1552

Unusual Fish Mod adds a plethora of delightfully silly fictional sea creatures, alongside new gear, blocks, and foods. This mod is perfect for creating a colorful aquarium, filled with unique and amusing fish.

3. Deeper Oceans by Apollo

Deeper Oceans triples the depth of Minecraft’s oceans, making them feel endlessly vast and unexplored. This mod enhances the sense of underwater exploration, letting you get truly lost in the waters. The extra deep terrain generation allows for ores to be found much easier. Diamonds and other ores will spawn all over the ocean floor, especially in deep ocean biomes.

4. Critters and Companions by joosh_7889

Critters and Companions introduces adorable ocean creatures such as dumbo octopuses and sea bunnies! These animals come in a variety of colors and can be captured in buckets. They also offer some fun features. If you catch yourself drowning near a dumbo octopus, they will provide you with an air bubble helmet! And, you can get sea bunny slime using glass bottles to craft sea bunny slime blocks! There are also beautiful koi fish in this mod, but they only spawn in rivers.

5. Ocean’s Delight by scouter567

Ocean’s Delight is a culinary mod for ocean lovers! It’s an addon to the mod Farmer’s Delight and allows you to cook a variety of delicious ocean-themed meals using sea creatures and plants found underwater.

6. Realm RPG: Sea Dwellers by nocubeyt

Realm RPG: Sea Dwellers adds peculiar and unique fish people and underwater villages. You can trade with each mermorph and each of them carry unique loot. There are ten different types of mermorphs, which can be found in a variety of ocean biomes. This mod is great for adding some liveliness to the oceans by introducing new villager-like fish people to interact with!

7. Yung’s Better Ocean Monuments by YUNGNICKYOUNG

Yung’s Better Ocean Monuments completely overhauls the ocean monuments, making them a much more engaging and dangerous structure to explore and conquer. Better Monuments are much larger than the vanilla ones and have completely random layouts. You’ll find much better loot, including tridents and heart of the seas. But beware, these monuments can pose a real challenge!

8. Mermod by ThatPreston

Mermod transforms you into a mermaid /merperson, which is perfect for immersing yourself in underwater adventures. Mermod allows you to live underwater full-time with a beautiful and highly customizable mermaid tail. Equip the magical sea necklace item to gain a customizable mermaid tail and magical ocean powers like water breathing and night vision. The sea necklace can be dyed intricately like leather armor, and further customized with items such as the tail gradient, glowing pearl, and more.

9. Alex’s Mobs by sbom_xela

Alex’s Mobs is a popular mod adding a wide range of new animals, including several sea creatures. Inside the ocean, you’ll find the cachalot whale, blobfish, mantis shrimp, giant squid, mimic octopus, seal, and orca, making your oceans feel more alive and dynamic!
