i made this drawing originally to be a quick sketch. but i of course got too attached to it, so i polished it and had some fun making the full composition look nice.
i was inspired by a pose i saw on pinterest and a cute emo outfit. the selling point was the striped scarf, its just so cozy :3 i referenced an expression i found on an anime screenshot. those are great for expression studies/references because the animators are great at drawing all sorts of faces (yay! ty animators!) once i got all my references together i drew and colored my drawing.
for the “post-processing” i experimented with a galaxy overlay. i think it worked out really nicely because all the stars really shine through the dark clothes and hair. for the background, i used an old dual swords design i made to add some details. then i added a cat keychain from my previous drawing and a pair of headphones. ive been playing around with these small graphics a lot lately and its like using stickers on a sketchbook!! i added a quote i thought up really quickly to fill in some of the negative space. its just something that’s been on my mind lately! lastly i added my signature to the corner, which i enlarged to let it become part of the graphics.
this quick drawing definitely took some of the things i learned from my previous piece and iterated on it. i really enjoyed making it, i love simple drawings that just let me have fun and experiment.
