phantom cyberware

i was heavily inspired by ruan jia’s detailed brushstrokes technique. i payed close attention to rendering my illustration with a focus on detail within my brushstrokes. i also wanted to create a strong focal point by coloring my face as a pale, ceramic-like white. the rest of the painting slowly fades into black. the border between my hoodie and the background is implied rather than distinct. the blue glow of the wires and my clothes also merge with the background in an abstract way. this was to create a dream-like effect and mood within the piece, to represent that this is not reality, yet merely a dream or a vision of mine. the colors in general are not accurate to reality. i wanted to use a more playful color palette, that is mostly blue, purple, teal, and black. these are some of my favorite colors not only in general but also to use in my artwork. additionally, its symbolic to the typical color palettes you will see in cyberpunk media. purple glowing LED lights, a haze of blue air particles scattered around the skyline of a cyberpunk city. the dark, dramatic lighting represents the vibrant glow of cyberpunk aesthetics in contrast to cyberpunk’s grim reality as a dystopian cautionary tale.
